“Flat? You have a ‘flat’ lot?” Flat it was, though that was due to fill placed on the lot, located adjacent to the Swannanoa River floodplain in East Asheville. An end of street lollipop-shaped lot with sweeping views across farmland toward the Craggy Mountain range and Blue Ridge Parkway focus the main rooms north while a U-shaped front yard creates a welcoming entrance. An open Kitchen/Dining/Living space with vauted ceiling, Music Nook, separated Family/Den and an upper level Perch to capture those views. Even the tub and outdoor shower will capture the view. Designed with energy efficient construction, durable materials and ample southern facing roof exposure for PV solar, the aim of the clients is a near Net-Zero home.
